WHY WE BUILT P.A.W.S. : TRANSFORMING CLINICS TO TRANSFORM CARE

Every time we walked into a clinic with the Exam D device, we saw the same reaction, vets were immediately excited about it. But very quickly, we also saw something else. Many clinics didn’t have the digital foundation needed for a tool like Exam D to create its full impact. Workflows were manual, documentation was scattered, and processes weren’t built for efficiency. It became clear that for Exam D to have the impact we desired, we first had to help clinics digitize properly.

As we observed more clinics, we realised the issue wasn’t just the absence of software, it was the kind of software that existed. Most systems simply replicated pen-and-paper tasks on a screen. They didn’t save time, reduce admin load, or prevent revenue loss from missed steps. And for clinics not using software at all, the barriers were obvious: the tools were expensive, rigid, and required too much effort to adopt. For an overworked vet, learning a new system felt like yet another task.

This is where P.A.W.S. began. We wanted to build something that didn’t just digitize clinics but actually made their day easier. We imagined a future where documentation, billing, reminders, and follow-ups happened automatically in the background. A future where clinics operated seamlessly across in-clinic visits, virtual consults, and at-home care. And a future where vets could spend almost all of their time on clinical care instead of administrative work.

Building P.A.W.S. for that future meant starting from scratch. We resisted the temptation to copy human healthcare software so that it didn’t feel like we were pushing their workflows into a mould that just didn’t fit. Instead, we designed everything around one goal: to drive efficiency and free up the vet’s time. That meant creating an interface that feels simple and intuitive, across the web and app versions, no matter how complex the backend work is.

We also knew that as AI began handling tasks like transcription and SOAP note generation, transparency would be essential. So we built P.A.W.S. so every step can be traced, from the conversation to the transcription to the final structured note. Nothing hidden, nothing unexplainable.

Looking back, the reason we built P.A.W.S. feels straightforward. Clinics were doing their best, but outdated workflows were holding them back. We wanted to change that by giving them a true operating system — one that reduces administrative burden, supports proactive care, and helps vets deliver stronger clinical outcomes. P.A.W.S. is our way of helping clinics operate at their best, and it all began with those early visits where we realised that transforming veterinary care starts with transforming clinic workflows.
